The River Don't Care A story about mental illness The Crazy Stories edition by Peggy Mercer Health Fitness Dieting eBooks Reviews
Very good book. An amazing author. Thanks Peggy.
Sadly, the river isn't the only one that doesn't care. A great part of our society is willing to turn its back on those crying out for help. Peggy peels back another layer of this complex story and how loved ones deal with it through denial, heartache, confusion, and finally realization and courageous resolve.
A haunting collection of stories filled with raw emotion using telling internal dialogue from multiple points of view. Award winning author Peggy Mercer tackles a difficult, long neglected subject, with a dash of southern humor. In these tales, the plight of Ruby Rivers unfolds. She is a mother with no good choices for a son she loves unconditionally that has been diagnosed as a teenager with schizophrenia, an illness that has long been stigmatized in America. The limitations of America’s current health care system for the mentally ill are revealed as we follow Bogg Rivers and those who try to help him. -Amy R. Wethington (Associate Professor of Biology)
This 3rd part is what all parents of a mentally ill child needs to read. No one really understand the causes of mental illness. Something in the brain reacts in a certain way, different from others. Bogg's mother explains what she understands, but one only understands what they can see. I love this series, it's informative, but also keeps the readers attention like a novel. This is the perfect way to publish this. Anyone with any association to the mentally ill needs to read this series.
Please don’t think twice (and click the buy button) downloading Peggy Mercers , The Crazy Stories, each story available monthly for a year beginning with Two Hearts in a Fist.
Immediately I was drawn into the life of Bogg Rivers, a severely mental patient who Peggy brings alive right before your eyes. Mental Illness is the unseen demon, but once exposed you can’t help but feel great compassion for Bogg and his mother, Ruby Rivers.
But as Peggy says in her first story, Two Hearts In a Fist, “Mentally ill people are children of God, just like normal folk are.” So we too must not hide from the mental illness issue that Peggy is putting before us but must join her in taking up the fight in understanding this illness thru her beautifully written stories. All of Life needs some humor and Peggy takes heavy load of mental illness and makes it feel little lighter, as only a great writer can do.
In her second story, The River Don’t Care, you will be challenged with the question, Do you care? And if you do, you will learn through Peggy that the mentally ill need people like you and I to care, to help them, as we all need one another on our journey back home.
And now I can’t wait to read story #3. March can't come soon enough! – I’m hooked and committed to learning about mental illness through The Crazy Stories and how I can help. Thank you Peggy!
